UltrAspire Hydration Pack Review

I am a bad wife because I bought my husband the UltrAspire Alpha hydration pack for his birthday, but really I bought if for my own use.

Alpha Pack

I have started running more on trails and aspire to be an ultra runner. I see every trail runner in southern Utah wearing UltrAspire and decided to try a hydration pack. I purchased the Alpha pack at the St. George Running Center and took it for a test run on the St. George Running Club‘s Annual 4th of July 17-mile trail run.

First time using the UltrAspire Alpha Pack

I swear I ran the whole time except to take the above picture. I really liked the Alpha pack. It was light weight and held all the water I needed for a long run like this. I was worried I would have friction problems wearing a tank top and having shoulder straps on, but I had no problems.

I carried my cell phone in one mesh pocket and PowerGels in the other pocket. I even had room for my sunglasses in one of the mesh pockets until I needed them. I also really liked having the small pocket on the shoulder strap for salt tablets.

Staying hydrated on a trail & road run combo.

When I run 18+ miles my stomach doesn’t always feel that great. It was so nice to take pressure off my stomach (like I have when I wear waist packs) and put it on my shoulders. On this pack you have to pop the nipple out to drink and at first it was stiff and I didn’t like it. I am used to just biting the nipple on my Camelbak to drink. Then again, my Camelbak will leak all over me if I don’t have it positioned right and the UltrAspire nipple does not.

I ran with this pack on a 22-mile marathon training run. I did not make any water drops and had just enough water in the pack to complete my run. It was hot weather, but the large hole mesh was very breathable.

Trail run to Molly’s Nipple (Yes, that is what it is called) in Hurricane, UT.

I am taking my Alpha pack out for a trail run tomorrow morning. It will be cold so I am sure I will have a chance to use the cord on the back to store my jacket when it starts warming up.

Find UltrAspire online at: www.ultraspirestore.com and on Facebook.

If you visit or live in southern Utah then you can stop by the UltrAspire headquarters and try out some gear yourself. They will even take you on a short trail run! Located at 3884 South River Road, St. George, UT 84790
